Paramilitares de CGC/ChevronTexaco afirman uso de minas terrestres. Sarayacu entregará cinco personas a la policía (15 de Enero 2003)

Cerca del rioachuelo Shanshan dentro del territorio de Sarayaku, nuestro grupo de guardianes ambientales encontró por la mañana un nuevo campamento de la compañía petrolera CGC/ChevronTexaco. Veinte y cinco trabajadores de la CGG/ChevronTexaco fueron expulsados pero cinco personas de la seguridad de la compañía fueron detenidas y está por el momento en camino a Sarayaku. El grupo de seguridad de la compañía andaba armados. Hoy día, este grupo saldrá al Puyo y será entregado a la policía.

Los cinco paramilitares detenidos afirman que el campamento de CGC/ChevronTexaco esta minado. No sabemos si es verdad o solo para intimidar pero mujeres de Sarayaku están dispuestas a sacrificarse la vida para probar la verdad. Sabemos también que los trabajadores de la compañía mataron un tapir en el territorio de Sarayaku. Fue identificado porque desperdiciaron una gran parte del animal, dejando la cabeza, el cuero y las patas del animal en el lugar donde le mataron. En otro sitio, regaron gasolina en el suelo.

Nececitamos de urgencia apoyo para poder comprar alimentacion y para transporte de alimentación y personas a Sarayaku.

Paramilitaries of CGC/ChevronTexaco confirm the use of landmines. Sarayacu will hand over five persons to the police (January 15, 2003).

Near the Shanshan Creek within Sarayacu territory, the group of environmental guards found in the morning a new camp of the petrol company CGC/ChevronTexaco. Twenty-five workers of CGC/ChevronTexaco were expelled, but five members of the security crew of the company were detained and are now on the way to Sarayacu.
