Disparos contra Sarayaqueños: CGC/ChevronTexaco intenta intimidar a Sarayacu con militares y paramilitares (13 de Enero 2003)

Hoy día trabajadores de la CGC/ChevronTexaco agredieron a disparar para matar a miembros de Sarayaku que estuvieron viajando por río para linderar y demarcar los territorios tradicionales de Sarayaku. Las personas atacadas tuvieron que acostarse en el fondo de la canoa para salvarse la vida.

La CGC/ChevronTexaco, además de haber contradado los servicios de las fuerzas armadas, mantiene grupos armados dentro de la selva quienes supuestamente deben precautelar la “seguridad”. Los grupos armados no tienen ningun permiso de operar legalmente, es decir son paramilitares ilegales. Cuando hubo disparos no intervinieron ni los militares ni los paramilitares para parar este acto de violencia, lo que muestra que todo es una estratégia de la CGC/ChevronTexaco misma para crear pánico y terror.

    Gunfire against Sarayacu people: CGC/ChevronTexaco intents to intimidate Sarayacu with military and paramilitary groups (January 13, 2003)

    On Monday, January 13, employees of CGC/ChevronTexaco attacked with gunfire in order to kill Sarayacu members who were travelling by river in order to demarcate the traditional limits of Sarayacu. The people under attack had to lie down in the bottom of the canoe in order to save their lives.

    CGC/ChevronTexaco, on top of having contracted the services of the armed forces, also maintains armed groups in the forest, who supposedly should care for the “security”. These armed groups do not have any legal permits, that is, they are nothing but illegal paramilitary groups. When there was gunfire against the Sarayacu people, neither the military or the paramilitary groups intervened in order to stop this act of violence, which shows that it all is a strategy of CGC/ChevronTexaco in order to create panic and terror.
