Reciban un cordial y extensivo saludo de quienes conformamos el Pueblo Kichwa de Sarayacu y el mejor deseo de éxitos en las actividades de comunicación que vienen desempeñando en beneficio del pueblo ecuatoriano.

El motivo del presente es para denunciar anomalías que se suscitan en un medio de comunicación local bien conocido en la provincia y que el día de ayer llega al limite de colmar nuestra paciencia.

Tenemos pleno conocimiento de que un medio de comunicación debe tener imparcialidad para emitir las noticias a la ciudadanía y que un periodista debe manejarse con ética profesional, conocemos que el periodista de Radio MIA Edwin Fernández trabaja como relacionador Publico de la Compañía General de Combustibles CGC. Motivo por lo que sus reportajes noticiosos en referencia al tema carecen de imparcialidad Es de conocimiento Publico que la mencionada Compañía mantiene serios conflicto con la Comunidad de Sarayacu, por intentar ingresar de manera inconsulta, violentando lo que establece la Constitución

Al mismo tiempo denunciamos que en la misma emisora existe un programa en idioma kichwa y últimamente en castellano con horario de cinco de la mañana hora en que las comunidades indígenas están despiertos sintonizando la radio donde nos insultan y amenazan en términos denigrantes morbosos todos los días por una hora a los dirigentes indígenas y a una comunidad entera, siendo los protagonistas personas en Estado etílico, que instigan a que las personas que participan en el programa hablen solamente en contra de la comunidad de Sarayacu y sus miembros, este programa viene funcionando desde hace unos tres meses.

Y ahora la gota que derramo el vaso es lo que aconteció ayer, cuando la misma emisora emitió notas de condolencia donde mencionaba que la alta dirigencia de Sarayacu Franco Viteri, José Gualinga, y los otros dirigentes fallecieron en un trágico accidente en la vía Baños Puyo, noticias falsas que una emisora no debe permitir, esta clase de ataque a la dirigencia de Sarayacu ha llegado a un limite que no se puede tolerar, están jugando con la sicología, sentimientos y la susceptibilidad de nuestros familiares, amigos y hermanos.

Solicitamos que las entidades responsables de los medios de comunicación tomen cartas en el asunto y se establezca un orden que se enmarque en el respeto a la ética profesional de los periodistas y a los principios con las que se manejan los Mas medios.

Present:

Receive cordial and extensive greetings from us who conform the Kichwa people of Sarayacu, and our best wishes for success in the activities of communication that you fulfil to the benefit of the Ecuadorian people.

The reason for this letter is to denounce anomalities that are ocurring in a local medium of communication well known in the province, and that yesterday came to the limit of our patience.

We know well that a medium of communication must show impartiality in order to broadcast news to the public, and that a journalist must have a professional ethic. We know that the journalist of the Radio MIA, Edwin Fernández works as Public Relations Officer for the Compañía General de Combustibles CGC. For this reason, his news reports regarding this theme lack impartiality. It is of general knowledge of the public that the mentioned company is in a serious conflict with the Sarayacu Community, because of its attempts to enter without consulting us, violating what is established in the Constitution.

At the same time, we denounce that in the same radio station, there is a program in the Kichwa language, and recently also in spanish, at five o'clock in the morning, a time of the day when the people in the indigenous communities are awake listening to the radio, where they insult us and threaten us in denigrating and morbid terms, every day during one hour, against the indigenous leaders and an entire community, the protagonists intoxicated, who instigate that the people who participate in the program speak only against the community of Sarayacu and its members. This program is functioning since about three months.

And now the drop that made the glass spill over is what happened yesterday, when the same radio station broadcasted condolencies saying that the board members of Sarayacu; Franco Viteri, José Gualinga and other leaders had died in a tragic accident on the road between Baños and Puyo. These were false news, which a radio station should not allow. This kind of attack against the board members of Sarayacu has reached a limit that can not be tolerated. They are playing with the psychology, the emotions and the susceptibility of our relatives, friends, brothers and sisters.

We request that the entities responsible for the media of communication take action and establish order, framed in the respect of the proffessional ethics of the journalists and the principles for managing the media.
